Melissa Johnson

“Creating art begun for me at a very young age in the space under the basement stairs.  My father built me a tiny art studio where I could go and create.  I have never stopped creating art. A few years ago we moved to the desert outside Tucson and my art evolved.  The stark, dramatic landscape of the desert has been impressed upon my visual brain.  My current work is expressions of the sights, feelings and emotion I have experienced living in the beautiful desert.  My medium has always been oils.  I add cold wax and metal leaf to my works.  It is my way to express my personal impressions of the landscape.” – Melissa Johnson
