Emily Chaplin
Emily Chaplin is an oil painter working in expressive color and painting primarily with palette knife. Her abstracted paintings have caught the eye of private collectors from around the United States throughout her 18-year career in the visual arts. Originally from North Carolina, Emily is currently a Resident Artist at the Red Brick Center for the Arts in Aspen, Colorado.
Emily’s statement about her well know aspen tree paintings: “Before I began painting these enigmatic trees, I spent years observing them closely and photographing them in detail. I strive to create paintings that capture the feelings I experience when I am in their presence of aspens. I view each new individual work as a part of an ongoing body that together create a tapestry honoring the beauty of this tree and of the natural world. The aspen tree paintings are often about community. I intentionally make each tree unique, reflecting our human individuality. But just as a grove of aspens is connected out of sight underground, we as humans rely on one another – our friends, family, community – to live and to flourish.”
Emily’s paintings are represented in Arizona by Wilde Meyer Galleries. Click on any piece to enlarge it.
