J Gilbert

J Gilbert’s landscape and figurative paintings reflect long time residence, travel and reflection on the natural and architectural environments of the southwest. The genera of southwestern painting traditionally contains physical and psychic elements of the American myth: the nature-based religion of the Native Americans, Spanish-Mexican Catholicism and the adventurism of the European settlers. This mix and primal power of the land itself are reflected in the rich color and subtle overlay of symbol in Jill’s painted work.

J’s work is represented in Arizona by Wilde Meyer Galleries.  Click on any piece to enlarge it.
