Kristin Harvey
Originally from Fresno, California, Kristin Harvey studied art at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco where she received a BFA in Illustration. After graduating she began a digital art career and illustrated books, advertisements, magazines, educational materials, and eventually video games. After a 10 year career in video game design, Kristin had the chance to design Sega of America’s first website and this opportunity led to a career in user experience and website design. She has always created with traditional mediums as well as digital, and painting is her passion. In 2022 she left the corporate world to paint as a full time artist. She has shown her work regionally and has sold internationally throughout her painting career.
“My artwork reflects my love for the Sonoran desert and a strong appreciation of Mexican culture. I am a colorist drawn to the brilliant hues of Mexican celebrations and folk art. I paint my contemporary semi-abstract paintings inspired by these colors, and by the desert in bloom. A love for color and line is apparent in my broad, loose brushstrokes juxtaposed with crisp white outlines. I paint intuitively with an acrylic mixed media process that includes water-based crayons, chalk pastel, colored pencil and intensely saturated acrylic paints. I paint from a need to create consistent joy in my life. What I enjoy most about showing my work is that it tends to spread that joy to the viewer. I see my art as a shared smile.”
