David Camacho-Betancourt
David Camacho-Betancourt comes from a rich heritage, a combination of Tejano, Indigenous, and Spanish cultures. His whimsical and colorful style combines with the visual telling of stories. While he has had no formal art training, it can be argued that his lack of training in art encourages his freedom of expression. His dreams become his subjects, and the symbolic world of dreams express his view of the world. David has lived in Arizona for many years. He lives a private, peaceful life in the Tonto National Forest. He is deeply connected with the natural world around him. His pets and extensive cactus garden are his biggest inspiration. He uses unusual materials… some he finds in the local desert, some are re-purposed everyday objects. David’s work has been shown and exhibited in several group and one man shows.
David’s work is represented in Arizona by Wilde Meyer Galleries. Click on any piece to enlarge it.
