“In Spirit” will open Thursday December 5th 5 – 7 PM, and hang through January 4, 2014. Emphasis will be placed on art with “Spirit”, whether it be the spirit of a beautiful horse, such as in Chaille Trevor’s “Flight” which shows a graceful Arabian in mid leap, or nature’s spirit as in Deb Komitor’s beautiful painting “Great Spirit of the Canyon” which portrays a regal eagle presiding over the canyon.
Spirit in Jim Nelson’s paintings is represented by color and icons of the Lakota tribe’s stories and spiritual traditions. Subjects range from bound yellow headed blackbirds to grandmother figures, all portrayed in power colors.
More traditional seasonal subjects will also be shown, such as Stephen Morath’s “Las Posades” which shows the sincerity and reverence of the Nativity procession. Several other artists, including Patricia Hunter and Andrea Peterson show their versions of the wild spirit of African animals.
The Gallery will also be showing their annual ornament collection with images generously donated by talented Wilde Meyer artists. Proceeds benefit animal charities. These are great for Hanukah or Christmas gift giving. Artists partipating are Barbara Gurwitz, Ka Fisher, Trevor Mikula, Sarah Webber and many more.
