An eclectic group show of contemporary artists, which focuses on different styles and techniques. Art ranges from the pure minimal abstract work of Nancy Pendleton and Debora Stewart to sepia washed canvas depictions of cowboys by Sara Newton. Wilde Meyer is also proud to present new work by Peggy Judy. Other artists included in the show are Michael Swearngin, Maura Allen and more.

This month’s group show focuses on non-domestic animals. The show will include exotic as well as native wild animals. Patricia Hunter’s realistic style watercolors, of various African species, become very contemporary through her unorthodox compositions. The great physical strength of Greg Dye’s wild bison is portrayed in his thick pallet knife paintings that are contemporized with vivid wild hues. Timothy chapman invents hi own wild species. Ron Russon’s portrayal of wildlife has a subtle hint of native spiritualty combined with bold contemporary colors and lines. These artists as well as work by several artists will be displayed.

Some artists strive for realism when portraying animals, others go for fun and the imaginary.
Sarah Webber is an artist who can achieve a visual sense of realism when painting her subjects, but her titles take the renderings beyond just the visual, to establish a short story caught in time. In her painting called “Leap of Faith, Sarah gives the viewer the sense of a optimism as the bunny hops into the unknown. “Two Times the Fun”, shows two burros, caught giving their attention to a subject off canvas, and captures their sense of anticipation of what is to come.
Trevor Mikula deals strictly in the imagined. His painting style is honed to an economy of brushwork and details. The colors are yummy, and the subjects huggable. Animal Kingdom features all styles and interpretations of our wonderful world of animals. Artists include Ron Russon, Jaime Ellsworth, Connie Townsend, Chaille Trevor, and many more.

Many artists are influenced by all things Native. Some artists, like Lance Green and Thomas Ross, depict Native Americans as stylized portraiture, or involved as action figures. Jim Nelson chooses to present the Lakota Sioux tribe through careful and thoughtful study and depiction of their attributes. Still others, like Jack Roberts, use the spiritual influence to produce stunning abstract paintings.“Influence of the Native Spirit” also includes artists who depict bison, wild horses, and petroglyphs that were important to American Native peoples.

In celebration of special Western Spirit Artwalk, we will be featuring all mode of cowboys and desert flora. From traditional working ranch cowboys by James Swanson, to the stylized folklore images of western heroes and villains, by Thom ross, to abstract contemporary cow people by Sherri Belassen, we will add the supportive art of cacti plants. Giant prickly pear paintings by Patrick Coffaro will be interspersed among the romanticized Cowperson figures. Also showing iconic cacti images by Diane Barbee, Cathy Carey, Stephan Morath, and less than conventional images by Trevor Mikula among many others.

It would not be the “Old West” without critters. Most iconic are mustangs, burros, coyotes, and bison to name a few. Whether domestic or wild, the west conjures up visions of all sorts of fauna. Animals were crucial to the lives of Native peoples and western settlers, and they are still valued and enjoyed today, in our new west. Artists participating include Sarah Webber, Sushi Felix, Chaille Trevor, Bill Colt, Theresa Paden, and more, with a special introduction of our new artist Cathy Carey.

Oils and Acrylics – a group show featuring many of Wilde Meyer’s best artists. The paintings are diverse in styles and techniques. Some artists, like Kristin Knight, work in watercolor style washes, and then finish with a beautiful glaze. Other artists, like Greg Dye, use thick impasto techniques. Artists include Ka Fisher, Acacia Alder, Timothy Chapman and many other talented painters.
