“Art for Collectors” encapsulates the spirits of both the 2nd Annual Collector’s ArtWalk (January 15th) and The Big Game ArtWalk (January 31st). Whether you are a collector of fine art, classic cars, or Arabian horses; or you are in town for golf or football; Wilde Meyer Gallery is the place you want to see.
Featured artists include Bill Colt, whose mixed media “in your face” classic cars will fascinate the most ardent car connoisseur. Sherri Belassen shows cowboy golfers as modern abstracted swingers, while western artist Thom Ross depicts them as vintage dressed stylized period cowboys. The galleries will also be featuring landscapes by more classic artists like Gregory Stocks, and abstracts by Debra Stewart. Amazing equine studies by Chaille Trevor and Karen Bezuidenhout will be shown along with many more. Receptions will be held at both galleries on January 15th from 7-9 PM and the 31st from Noon-4 PM. The show will hang in both Scottsdale galleries until February 14th.

Many artists are inspired by nature. Some use a cerebral view of nature to extend their visions of what art is about. There may be basic silhouettes or recognizable forms of nature in abstract art. Other works are abstract to the point that no recognizable forms are seen and leave the viewer to contemplate just the strokes or composition.

Art is a unique experience shared by an artist and the collector of the artist’s work. The artist expresses himself through creating the work of art. The collector expresses himself through an emotional connection by liking and acquiring a piece of art. Sometimes the “urge to have” is nothing more than a visual appeal of the colors.
Alternatively, the piece may appeal on a deeper emotional level by transmitting something secret to a collector. Artists expressing themselves include the textured depiction of saguaros by Diane Barbee. Patricia Hunter shows impeccably rendered animal watercolors. Robert Burt’s visions of vintage automobiles in stylized landscapes are included.
In conjunction with the Express Yourself show, Wilde Meyer Gallery will be hosting a reception on Thursday November 20th, 5 – 7 PM. We are pleased to announce that we have several artists participating in the Tucson Mountain Oyster show. Artist Sarah Webber will be painting in the gallery. Expressing Themselves through their paintings, Mountain Oyster participants: Sarah Webber, Tracy Miller, Amy Watts, Barbara Gurwitz and Roger Alderman’s work will be shown.

Dia De Los Muertos October opens October 23, 7 – 9 PM during Scottsdale’s 40th Anniversary Art Walk. The reception displaying a traditional alter and refreshments will happen October 30, 7 – 9 PM. Whether you celebrate Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Halloween, or All Souls Day you are sure to find art to your liking in this special show.
Wilde Meyer artists have entered surprising works of art to participate in this tradition. At the October 30 reception, we will be serving Pan Dulce and Dia De Los Muertos Pan. Participating artists include Melinda Curtin, Kathryn Blackmun, Linda Carter Homan, Andrea Peterson, Stephen Morath and many more. Show to hang through November 8.

Presenting “Go Figure” opening October 23, 7 – 9 PM to celebrate the Scottsdale 40th Anniversary ArtWalk. This show will examine how artists approach figurative works.
Sherri Belassen approaches figures, whether human or animal, with a contemporary layered and abstracted approach. Feet are attenuated, bodies stretched to exaggerated lengths, and represented as angular patterned planes. Earl Linderman paints humans in storytelling settings, flying airplanes, driving fast cars – living the high life of romance and intrigue.
Monica Rossa’s style is softer. Sometimes her young women’s’ ethereal bodies seem to have no underlying bone structure, but are instead supported by the atmospheric background. Sculptor Tony Dow’s bronze sculptures show the essence of human figures, caught in moments of time, vaulting, diving or performing other athletic feats.
Also showing are Jim Nelson, Linda Carter Holman, Ana Marini, Joseph Young and Andrea Peterson, Thom Ross, along with others.

“Main Street Stars” will be opening October 23, 7-9 PM to celebrate Scottsdale 40th Anniversary ArtWalk.
This group show features wondrous outdoor fantasies by Stephen Morath, a master storyteller, and master watercolorist Patricia Hunter, best known for her unusual compositions of wild animals and stunning portraits of domestic animals. Breathtakingly colored cacti by Patrick Coffaro and others will also be shown.

A group show of iconic American images, this show includes popular images which range from Trevor Mikula’s rendition of “Old Glory”, to inspiring visual interpretations of our iconic American landscapes, such as the Grand Canyon.
Also included are modern interpretations of cowboys and Native Americans by Karen Bezuidenhout, and Thom Ross. Doug Weigel interprets ancient petroglyphs. Gregory Stocks paintings of serene landscapes are so well-executed that we feel we are almost there viewing them in person.

Take your imagination “for a ride” with paintings. Michael Baum’s “Waiting” portrays a dark lonely road where a dog waits anxiously for the return of his human.
Fran Larsen’s “road” paintings give the viewer birds eye views of roads traversing electric colored mountains and valleys while, Sushi Felix’s trails lead through and around subtle Sonoran rock formations complete with native flora and fauna.
Serene country sides change to bustling city streets with Bill Colt’s nostalgic mixed media renditions of classic cars “making the drag”.
