Les Powers

My career started in College at the University of Colorado where I majored in Architecture and Art. After that I spent my spare time designing furniture till one day I decided it was time to create sculpture. It became a driving force and consumed my life. With each piece I push my limits both in  ability and materials. Each new project is an attempt to bring that which cannot be put into words into a sculpture that has intrinsic value. Something that touches the heart, soul and spirit. To grasp that which has no name. To view one of my pieces I hope it will awaked a part of the viewer that has been asleep .Life is so busy we lose touch with our inter-core  and that which tires us of all things. I am hoping that my sculptures give the viewer a chance to step back and get in touch with the parts of us that matter and nurture us. Our greatest gift is the ability to create and in each sculpture I make the  creative process churn inside till what I feel is  a good combination of materials and speaks to the viewer without words. Given the ability to create it is also important to realize each of us is only a vessel and we are the instrument to the end product , in this case a sculpture. I have been fortunate to participate and be a part of many Art in the West Festivals and received awards for my work and a Best of Show at Indian Well Art Festival several years back. My work is shown at Wilde Meyer Galleries – Scottsdale and Tucson..
