It is not a scary holiday. I can say it because I grew up celebrating it. Although I’m from the most northern part of Mexico, my hometown city’s customs are a little Americanized and because of it, the typical Mexican traditions from Central and South Mexico are more diluted. But still, it was an important celebration.
As a child it meant my favorite time of the year was here! The air is (or was) full of the toasty smell of burning leaves. The air is cold and is windier there. The leaves walk with you as you go along with the wind… and we walked; my friend Norma and I walked everywhere.

Andrea and Frida
This small show will feature work inspired by the current Frida craze. Several of our artists came up with paintings inspired by, or in tribute to this revolutionary woman. Some artists were influenced by Frida’s color use, her talent, or Frida’s inspiring story. Some time back, Andrea Peterson, and Ryan Hale dressed a Kahlo and Van Gogh respectively. So we will be doing Frida inspired work for this show. An upcoming show will be featuring work by several of our artists who will reference artistic giants like Van Gogh, Monet, Rothko, and more.

A group show with an emphasis on hues and tonal effects used by artists. Some artists present art full of contrasts of light against dark, as shown in works by Ryan Hale and AM Stockhill. Artists like Peggy Judy and Stephen Morath create a more subtle mood by use of tonal effects of with low contrast. Still other artists like Brenda Bredvik and Sara Newton create a “bright” mood with splendid use of poly colors on ordinary subjects, like horses, cowboys or abstracts. From vivid to monochromatic, glowing light rays of sun to almost somberness of dusk, this show presents a great variety of effects.
WILDE MEYER GALLERY will be showing a mixed media group show of work by gallery artists. Included are: Debora Stewart, Sara Newton, Patrick Coffaro, Peggy Judy and more.
