Wilde Meyer will be displaying “Views of the West”, an exploration of the varying ways our artists depict their western surroundings. Roger Alderman takes a “Plein Air” approach to his work. He uses bold color and expressive brushwork to replicate not just the appearance, but the energy and spirit of the landscape.
Sushe Felix’s work draws from American early 20th century stylized artists, like the Transcendental Painting Group in Santa Fe, yet is still representational of the natural world. With a focus on line and shape, her stylized animals and landscapes capture a moment in time.
Michael Baum’s western landscapes, are handled with finer brushwork to create subtle atmospheric style. Also showing will be Amy Watts, Barbara Gurwitz, Michelle Chrisman, Ka Fisher, and many others.
Show moves to Tucson April 3rd – May 3rd, 2014. Opening reception will be Thursday, April 3rd from 5-7PM
Spring bursts with Arizona Talent. Colorful, exuberant, emotional could be descriptions for the art by some of Wilde Meyer’s most talented Arizona artists.
Barbara Gurwitz’s bold view of western landscapes transport the viewer to scenes as interpreted through the artist’s eye. Unconventional and informative, the paintings often show a bird’s eye view of quaint inhabited valleys overseen by inspiring rugged mountains.
Acacia Alder brings new meaning to Arizona desert plants. Whether painting saguaros, ocotillos or Palo Verde trees, Alder gives inspired and unconventional interpretations of common desert flora.
Monika Rossa’s paintings take you to imaginary places, filled with regal or romantic young women often shown with iconic dream symbols. Other Arizona artists included are Timothy Chapman, Judith Choate, Ka Fisher and many others.
